Chevin Cycles is a family-owned business, at the heart of the Yorkshire cycling community, where we’ve been serving the riders of Otley, Harrogate and Skipton for over 40 years. Whether it’s on road or trail, commuting or riding in the Dales and Pennines for fun, we’ve been providing cyclists with the best bikes and the finest clothing and accessories from world leading brands.
Chevin Cycles has always been based in Otley, with the first shop just off Cambridge Street. Rick Peacock acquired the business from Jim Hargreaves in 1981
In 1991 the current showroom on the corner of Gay Lane was acquired this was a significant expansion for the business and enabled us to have more bikes and an extensive workshop.
In 1997 the car lot that was adjacent to the showroom was acquired and this became our car park.
In 2002 planning permission was granted to further extend the building with a two story expansion.
In 2014, the year when the Grand Depart came to Harrogate we opened our new state of the art stores in Skipton and Harrogate. The Skipton store is located at the top of the main High Street opposite the Skipton Castle and the Harrogate store is conveniently located just off Ripon Road.
We have a strong partnership with The Otley Cycling Club, where a young Tom Pidcock first raced, becoming a member of our Chevin Cycles junior race team.
Every year, we support the annual Otley Races, that take part in the town and attract world class riders, alongside national standard and regional teams. It’s really important to us to support the local community and local riders, helping to develop them.
Alongside our sponsorship of the Otley Town Centre Race, we also run a successful open race series for riders, aimed at developing grass roots cycling in Yorkshire.
