A new one-piece bar\/stem is lighter (less parts mean less weight), more aerodynamic and more ergonomic than the previous version. Trek refined their race-focused comfort tech to be lighter and have nearly double the vertical compliance, this means that the bike is 80% more vertically compliant than the last Madone which gives you the ability to ride stronger for longer. This means that because the frame is more compliant, it flexes over bumps to provide a smoother ride. Furthermore, the new design is lighter than the Gen 7 with the addition of being more aero.
