Feature Bike - Madone SLR Custom Build

The Madone SLR  is more than just a road bike, it’s the ultimate superbike. It’s fast, light, smooth and designed to give you every advantage in speed and handling.

Of the world’s most sophisticated road bikes, only Madone delivers the triple threat of advanced aerodynamics, superior ride quality, and unprecedented integration. Thanks to 800 Series OCLV Carbon, the Madone SLR is the lightest and fastest Madone Trek have ever developed!

The Madone truly is a pedigree race bike as proven In 2019, when Trek-Segafredo’s Mads Pedersen took the win at the UCI Road World Championships on the ultimate race bike.

800 Series OCLV Carbon is 30% stronger than the previous OCLV Carbon laminates, yet just as stiff, allowing Trek to use less material in high-stress areas and create a lighter overall ride.

Cannondale System Six

In both real-world conditions and in the wind tunnel, Madone’s exclusive Kammtail Virtual Foil tube shape ranks among the world’s most aerodynamic ever. This means when you are riding the Madone you know the only thing holding you back is you!The fully integrated Madone IsoSpeed decoupler soaks up fatiguing bumps in the road so you can stay stronger for longer. So whether it’s the smoothest roads in Majorca or the Cobbles of Flanders the Madone can roll with the punches.

Every element of Madone is designed to make it the fastest, most advanced bike on the road. It has invisible cable routing, an aero cockpit, a hidden seat mast, integrated brakes, and a whole load of style!

But what if SLR is a little out of your price range? Trek have got you covered with Madone SL. Madone SL has the same aero tube shapes, ride quality and top-to-bottom integration as Madone SLR. And just like Madone SLR, Madone SL is the ultimate racing bike. It’s just made with 500 Series OCLV Carbon, which isn’t quite as light as the 800 Series OCLV Carbon, but still punches above its price bracket. When you opt for SL, you get a few extra grams in the frame – but you get a few extra grams in your wallet, too!

Feature Bike - Whyte T140C R

Introducing the Whyte Bikes T-140C R. Could this be the ultimate British trail bike? We have always been a fan of Whyte Bikes’ stunning design and amazing ride quality, but this thing just blows the term value for money out of the water!

With 130mm of rear travel and 27.5-inch wheels paired with some quality 2.6in Maxxis rubber, this thing is set to destroy any tight, twisty and technical trails you can throw at it. Whyte has opted to go with reinforced rear tyres, this adds impact insurance and frees you up to get as freaky as you want on your favourite trails, or just react totally right when you’re hitting a tech section for the first time.

Whyte’s award-winning mid-travel trail bikes have rewritten the rules on what 27.5in wheels and 130mm of rear suspension could do. The T-140C R gets a new lightweight carbon fibre front end for outstanding punch and play. Making this thing as easy to climb as it is send it down your favourite rowdy trail!

Let’s look at the gear to go with the beautiful heart of this machine. Starting with the group set, Whyte have equipped this stunner with a 12 speed SRAM Eagle drivetrain. This amazing combination of GX rear mech and shifter matched with an NX cassette leads to flawless shifting yet amazing value when it comes to changing out those big cogs at the back.

Rockshox is supplying the cushion in this case with a RockShox Pike Select RC Fork and Deluxe Select + RT rear shock. This great combination of suspension offers all the squish you need with some added bits of bling to tune to your heart’s content.

ORBEA Laufey Junior - Are You Ready For Spring

That’s right were almost to that magical time of year again when the sun is out, and the days are longer, perfect time to be outdoors and get out with your friends, whether that’s on the road, trails, or park there’s a bike for the occasion, we may be bias here but we think there’s one that tops them all.

The Laufey Junior family includes three different
wheel sizes for riders from 4 to 14 years.
Laufey Junior 20″: from 4 to 7 years
Laufey Junior 24″: from 6 to 9 years
Laufey Junior 27″: from 8 to 14 years

Orbea has engineered the shape and thickness of the aluminium tubes to increase their strength and reduce unwanted flex. To save weight, many of the tubes are
assembled in the midsection of the bike, away from the stress of joints and welds. They Have borrowed technologies from their carbon production to guarantee unmatched
performance in their aluminium bikes.

Most of the Laufey Junior 20″, 24″ and 27″ models are fitted with air forks, with travel ranging from 80mm to 120mm. The cranks and chainring are, made of aluminium: to reduce weight as much as possible, They ve also been designed specifically for Laufey Junior.

Laufey Junior is designed to ride mountains, so wider tires and more aggressive tread is standard on all models. They are also tubeless. Most Laufey Junior models feature a dropper post that can be adjusted to the size of the child

Feature Bike - Cannondale Jekyll

See you at the bottom
Even though Jekyll boasts a unique combo of go-fast tech that’s never been seen before, it’s not a bike that talks. It’s a bike that goes.

Where it thrives
Steep, fast, rowdy mountains

What it’s built for
Enduro racing, bike park sessions, high-speed mobbing

Descend into Greatness
It’s a hell of a climber but come on. Jekyll was born for the downs. Every part of it is crafted for the sweet embrace of speed, every element designed to help you wring a bit more of velocity’s nectar from those steep, chunky, high pucker lines you love.

Best. Suspension. Ever.
4-bar meets high pivot meets idler pulley meets size-specific kinematics. For real. If you’re not up for suspension buzzword bingo, just know that it grips, floats, and pedals like nothing else. It’s always up for getting down.

The Gravity Cavity
The shock tucks cleanly into the twin spar downtube, keeping the bike’s centre of gravity as low as possible. Wicked stability, instant line changes and one-of-a-kind look.

Built for You
Well, not you specifically. But someone just like you. With Cannondale’s Proportional Response design, everything – from the suspension layout to the geometry, even the length of the chainstays – is completely customized by size, for performance built just for you.

Our Thoughts
The bike that you can see in our feature bike is mine! That’s right I have been riding the Jekyll for just under 4 months now and I’ve changed a few things along the way! My first alteration was the wheels, I switched the stock wheels that came with the Jekyll straight out of the box for my wheel of choice, the Bontrager Line Elites. These strong high engagement point wheels are perfect for the riding I do and are in my opinion, Bontrager has some of the best value for money wheels on the market.

The second part I changed out was the tyres. From new, I switched from the stock Maxxis tyres over to my preferred set of Schwalbe tyres, Magic Mary, and Big Betty. However, as of recent, I have opted to try out a brand-new tyre brand, Michelin Tyres and I’m happy to say that I am blown away! These tyres grip and they give you a real nice hard sidewall for extra support when running lower tyre pressures.

The final component that I switched on was the suspension. The bike came with a Fox factory 38 and X2 air shock, and what unreal bits of kit these are, the amount of tuning and adjustment is just mind-blowing and I don’t have a bad thing to say about the suspension setup on this bike, in-fact for the money, Cannondale did a number on this one! But I’m a diehard Rockshox fan and love me a coil so I made the switch to a super deluxe coil and Rockshox Zeb Ultimate and so far, they both work like butter and the rear end feels even more dreamy than before!

The components that came kitted on this bike top it off and give it that value for the money edge, The Hollowgram flat top carbon bars give a stunning look to the bike all while being super comfy on those chattery descents. The GX drivetrain yet again powers on through with that huge 10-52 T cassette you can climb up anything you throw at it.

My biggest surprise was the brakes, I have never really even been a fan of SRAM brakes however the CODE RSC brakeset that came on this bike blows my mind and I have to say. Best brakes I have ever used! They are powerful when you need them to be but give you an awesome range of modulation when you are making your way down steep technical descents and want to avoid locking up your wheels.

Finally, the frame, the most important part of the bike! This thing is amazing, from the looks to the performance, Cannondale cracked this one! From the first ride, I haven’t been any less than impressed. No more hanging up on square edges and the amazing feeling this bike gives when you pump into a feature, and it just accelerates gets me every single time! Not to mention the fact that this bike is practically silent, so far, I have experienced no chain slap and hearing the ground beneath you, rather than a clanging of bolts and chains really will never get old!

My closing thoughts on the bike are …… This thing ROCKS, every time I ride, I am blown away by how responsive, playful yet planted it feels, it’s great to see Cannondale getting stock back into the radicle bike design not to mention the stunning paint job on this thing!

Cannondale System Six

Feature Bike - Cannondale System Six

Not only the fastest in the wind tunnel or just the fastest for a select few riders in a select few scenarios, but the fastest for anyone interested in going faster, just about everywhere you’d want to go faster.

Cannondale System Six

Faster uphill
It’s faster than lightweight climbing bikes on any climb up to a 6% gradient or more, depending on the rider’s power to weight. To put that in perspective, the most revered HC climbs in the Tour only average 7-8%.

Faster Everywhere
Of all the forces you must overcome to make speed, aerodynamic drag has more of an effect in most situations than all the other resistive forces combined. Cutting drag translates into more speed, with less effort, in all the places you’d expect. And a lot of places you wouldn’t.

Faster downhill
Dropping down a 5% grade, a rider on a traditional lightweight bike would need to put out over 300 watts just to keep up with a rider spinning at a recovery effort on a System Six.

Faster in the sprints
In a 200m sprint with riders putting out a 1000-watt effort, the System Six rider would be four bike lengths ahead at the line.

Cannondale System Six

Faster on the flats
At 48km/h (30mph), System Six saves you over 50 watts – huge savings considering an average Cat 1 racer’s Functional Threshold Power is around 350 watts. And even when drafting, you’re still getting up to 60% of that benefit.

Everyday Faster
Even at a mellow group ride pace, System Six requires about 10% less power to maintain speed, leaving you with more in the tank when it’s time to throw down.

Cannondale System Six
Cannondale System Six
Cannondale System Six

The secret of the System Six’s spectacular speed lies in, not surprisingly, a system.

A holistically designed six-point system — Frame, Fork, Seat post, Bar, Stem, Wheels. — engineered to work together to defeat the giant of aerodynamic drag.

Frame & fork
To minimize drag, the frame and fork feature highly truncated airfoil shapes, engineered to maintain flow attachment across important yaw angles. Distinct asymmetry throughout provides instant response to pedalling and braking loads.

64 KNØT Wheels

Conceived as the first component of the System Six project, the Hollow Gram 64 KNØT is one of the absolute fastest wheelsets on the planet. Its unique design combines the speed benefits of an ultra-low drag profile with the real-world rideability benefits of larger volume tires.

Incorporating some ideas pioneered by Cannondale’s friends at HED, the disc-specific design is significantly wider than other road wheels. That extra width makes tires effectively bigger than their marked size for better ride quality (a 23c tire measures a full 26mm on the wheel) and helps air flowing over the tire reattach cleanly to the rim, maximizing flow attachment and minimizing drag. The rim shape is optimized for 26mm (23c) tires, but the 64 KNØT design exhibits minimal changes in drag with even larger tires, giving riders the option to go bigger for comfort, grip, and reduced rolling resistance without paying an aero penalty. It’s pure speed, without compromise.

Cannondale System Six
Cannondale System Six

Hollow Gram KNØT System Bar and Stem
This slick bit of speed wizardry provides the low drag and sleek look of a one-piece combo with the convenience and customizable adjustability of a two-piece system. The carbon bar features a full 8° of pitch adjust and comes in multiple widths for dialling in your position. The rounded airfoil shape maintains consistent airflow throughout the pitch range for low drag in any position and is much comfier on your hands than bars with sharp trailing edges.
The stem is interchangeable and comes in a variety of lengths and rises. It routes the brake and Di2 lines cleanly into the headtube via a channel under a mechanic-friendly cover and features matching gated spacers so you can adjust the stack height without disconnecting cables. Fast meets easy.

KNØT Seat post
An often overlooked, but vital part of the system. The truncated airfoil shape of the Hollow Gram KNØT seat post is designed specifically to reduce drag in the high-speed airflow that is accelerated between the rider’s legs.

Feature Bike - ORBEA Laufey Junior

Just like Orbea’s popular adult-sized Laufey, this fun-loving machine is perfect for riders of all ages. Laufey is a tough, scaled-down trail bike that relishes new terrain. It’s for first-timers and expert mini-shredders. Laufey is a master of fun with multiple wheel sizes, burlier tires and suspension forks that look and function just like yours.

The Laufey Junior family includes three different

Trek Top-Fuel Custom Build

Feature Bike - Top-Fuel Custom Build

The Top-Fuel is a quick, short-travel 29er trail bike that’s perfect for riders who like to stay pinned both up and down the trail. It’s lighter and snappier than a trail bike, but it’s a lot more forgiving on rowdy descents than a true cross-country bike. It’s the best of both worlds and a hell of a lot of fun in the dirt.

Trek Top-Fuel Custom Build

Rip down and rocket up any trail with the Top-Fuel ’s capable and efficient suspension. 120 mm of travel front and rear gives you enough squish to take bigger hits while a low leverage rate and high anti-squat ensure that this bike jumps forward with every pedal stroke.

The Top-Fuel ‘s efficient pedalling comes from a forward pivot on the seat tube that provides optimal, near-constant anti-squat through the entire travel. So, regardless of where you are in the travel, the bike accelerates when you push on the pedals.

Trek Top-Fuel Custom Build

A steeper seat tube means that you’re pushing down on the pedals while also keeping the front wheel weighted.

Removable Knock Block 2.0 keeps cables from getting yanked out in a crash and protects the top tube, but now it provides 72 degrees of turning radius.

Mino Link lets you fine-tune your frame geometry on the go. Stay in low for a slack 66-degree head tube angle. Flip it for a quicker 66.5-degree head tube angle and a 7-mm higher bottom bracket for more ground clearance.

Trek Top-Fuel Custom Build
Trek Top-Fuel Custom Build

This Particular Top-Fuel was a custom build for a customer who was originally looking for a top-spec prebuild. With shortages in supply and urges to make something fun and unique, the idea was broached that we could build him something a little more than your average rebuild! With that being said we got to work finding some of the best components for all of his trail needs.

For the frame, that was easy, we stayed with the Top-Fuel platform because of its efficiency on the uphill all the while being able to manage itself and roll with the punches going down. For suspension, we decided to make a match in haven with Fox Factory 34 Step-Cast forks to match that beautiful Kashima coated rear shock. This would give the customer ample adjustment and enable them to tune in to the ride.

Trek Top-Fuel Custom Build
Trek Top-Fuel Custom Build

For Group-set we spared no expense with the Shimano XTR 12 speed build, matched with some quite controversial SRAM XX1 carbon cranks. This benefited the customer as it added the much-loved option of the SRAM AXS QUARQ Power meter. Wheels were an easy choice for us to recommend with stunning performance price and aftercare the Bontrager Line Pro wheels were just a no brainer.

They are strong, have amazing value for money and are lightweight so would feel right at home underneath the Top-Fuel. Paired with a set of fast-rolling tubeless XR3 tyres it could just be an XC match made in heaven.

Finally finishing kit, when you have gone this far already, we didn’t think there was a better way to go other than the Bontrager RSL integrated handlebar and stem, sleek, lightweight and super comfortable for those rugged descents. It was a real winner in our eyes.
