WELCOME TO OTLEY CYCLE CLUB
Otley Cycle Club has been up and running for well over half a century and now boasts a membership of over 160 members. Situated in the heart of Otley we have our own clubrooms, which can be found on Crow Lane just behind Chevin Cycles.
Our club caters for a wide range of ages and abilities. Whether you are interested in racing, club riding, long distance touring or just leisure rides with other like-minded people then Otley Cycle Club is the club for you. Otley is a natural meeting place for Yorkshire cyclists, being within easy riding distance of Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate. There is plenty of superb cycling country to explore including the Dales, the Pennines and the Vale of York.
For those interested in competition, the club is affiliated to all national and local bodies. The recently refurbished clubrooms are a focus for club members and are the venue for regular meetings, talks, turbo-training sessions and many social events throughout the season.

Otley Reliability Ride 19th February 2012
Overnight frost and patchy icy greeted the 122 riders who signed on at the Buttercross for Otley Cycle Club’s annual 100K and 50K to Kettlewell and Bardon Tower respectively. The day stayed cool but very sunny, with bright blue skies throughout. This year’s event was organised by Otley Cycle Club’s Parent & Child (PAC) section. Who co-ordinated the signing on of the event and provided refreshments at club rooms afterwards. In a change to previous editions the 100K riders kept on the main road all the way to Kettlewell, returning on the back road and signing off for both events took place at Otley Cycle Club new partner Chevin Cycles. 38 different clubs were represented. Harrogate Nova being the biggest presence with 15 members and Steve Green of Garforth Wheelers was just the biggest. First riders returned to Chevin Cycles after 2 hours & 40 minutes, easily inside the 3 hour 30 minute time limit. Mr F Lyn of Seacroft Wheelers proved the how reliable he was by producing a fine solo ride (..he was late to start) finishing in precisely in 3 hours and 30 minutes. Fortunately there was just enough tea & cakes for him. In between the sign on & sign off 10 PAC riders rode to Weeton Huby & Almscliff Crag and back (a steady 16 miles).
Many thanks Megan & Sarah Cullen, Peter, Rebecca & Emily Middlebrook and Vicky Brown for fantastic catering and help signing people on and to Chevin Cycles for staging the signing off.
Looking forward to next year.

Otley CC at Ilkley Cyclo-Cross 15th January 2012Ilkley Cycle Club put on a superb event at the Nell Bank centre. The below zero temperatures and availability of ‘wheat’ beer gave the event a Belgium cyclo-cross feel. A well-designed course took riders through woodland, fields, much bumpy ground, gravel, over large logs and some tarmac proved to be to the liking of many Otley CC competitors.
Luke Middlemiss started a great morning for Otley CC by coming second in the under 10 age group (winning the first boy). Sam Howcroft came 12th and Lucy Cullen put on a fine displays in the same event to finish 31st. This was followed by the under 12 event. Otley’s star here was Megan Cullen, who started at the back of the grid and tore through the field to finish an overall 7th and Ist girl. Joe Howcroft rode well finishing in 13th.
Next racing on the full circuit were the Under 14 & Under 16. Otley’s Tom Cullen & Ryan Middlemiss had their own private battle and seemingly being inseparable for the whole event. Tom won the spirit to the line finishing 16th, Ryan at 17th.
In the Veterans and Women event Otley had 6 competitors, who battled around the circuit as the ice began to melt. Andrew Moxon showed his skills as an off road cyclist finishing on top of the Otley pile in 23rd. With Ian Cullen at 27th, Jonathan Hobbs 51st, Sharron Smith 52nd, James Cullen (..showing his skills as a time trialist) at 55th and Peter Middlemiss producing a fine performance to finish 66th.

Need some company to ride with and encourage you?
Think that cycling clubs are only for super-fit enthusiasts?
THINK AGAIN!
We plan routes to account for a range of abilities and experience, so no one is left behind. You don't need any particular type of bicycle. These rides are a good introduction to riding with a cycle club and you could progress to joining the longer rides. Alternately you may decide shorter more leisurely rides are for you.
